A sender domain is the domain in the From address. Mursil tracks its verification state and the DNS records that support it: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC.

Open Sender domains. The table shows the domain, status, record types, and the time it was verified.

Sender domains list with a verified domain and SPF, DKIM, and DMARC

Status

StatusMeaning

VerifiedDNS lookup matched the records Mursil expects.
FailedVerification ran and did not match.
DisabledThe domain is turned off.

The local seed creates mursil.dev with the from address no-reply@mursil.dev. That domain is a local sender identity. It does not by itself make Mailpit deliver to the public internet.

Create and verify

Create a domain with POST /api/v1/mursil/sender-domains and a body of { "domainName": "mail.example.com" }. The response location is the new id.

Open the row to reach /sender-domains/{id}. From that page, and from the API:

  • GET /api/v1/mursil/sender-domains/{senderDomainId}/lookup reads the DNS records Mursil can see.
  • POST /api/v1/mursil/sender-domains/{senderDomainId}/verify records a verification attempt. The body is { "actor": "name-of-the-operator" }.

Publish the DNS records at your DNS host before you verify. Mursil looks them up. It does not change DNS for you.

Operators, tenant admins, tenant owners, and SystemAdmin can list and verify domains.
